Kalemie is the main city of the newly created Tanganyika Province in the Democratic Republic of Congo, it is one among the destinations of people from Goma, Bukavu and Uvira who are fleeing the current war. But the city was not prepared enough and lacks almost everything in order to manage the influx of people. To make the matter worse the few organizations which are operating here depended on the USAID funding which does no longer exist, this made it difficult to support those in need.
The city is currently hit by Cholera outbreak and as of last week 2017 cases were recorded among them 37 died by Friday, find more about the situation in our report here ”
